Al-Maghames is the Secretary General of the Saudi Organization For Certified Public Accountants, and had previously served as an assistant professor in the Accounting Department at King Saud University.
Dr. Al-Maghames took part in many professional roles, boards and committees. He was the Vice President of Developing Professional Accounting Bodies in the International Federation of Accountants, a member of the Board of Trustees of Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers, a member of the Estate Contributions Commission, and a member of the Investment of Funds Committee. He was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Accounting Association. In addition, he took part in many participations in boards and audit committees of government and traded companies. He spoke in many local, regional and international forums and conferences.
He received his PhD in business administration specializing in accounting from Mississippi State University, he holds a master's degree in business administration specializing in accounting from Bridgeport University in the United States, a bachelor's degree in accounting from King Saud University, and a fellowship of Saudi Organization For Certified Public Accountants.
